About this event
Join Parrish Art Museum Associate Curator Scout Hutchinson for a curator’s talk with University of New Mexico Art Museum Curator of Prints and Drawings Angel Jiang, organized on the occasion of “Against the Plane: Experimental Lithography at Tamarind.”
Scout Hutchinson and Angel Jiang were participants in Tamarind’s 2025 Curatorial Workshop. Supported by the Getty Foundation through its Paper Project initiative, the workshop brought together a cohort of scholars and curators for an intensive engagement with Tamarind’s history and contributions to collaborative printmaking. Hutchinson’s exhibition marks the first guest-curated presentation to emerge from the program.
Scout Hutchinson has over a decade of institutional and independent curatorial experience, including as a Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she oversaw the Sondra Gilman Study Center for works on paper and worked closely with the permanent collection. At the Whitney, she was a curatorial assistant for the traveling exhibition Ruth Asawa Through Line, co-organized Wanda Gág’s World, and curated the collection exhibition What It Becomes. Prior to that, she held curatorial and research positions at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Hauser & Wirth Institute, and the Jewish Museum, and was an inaugural research fellow with Holt/Smithson Foundation in 2021. As The FLAG Art Foundation Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at Parrish, Hutchinson oversees the curatorial partnership between FLAG and Parrish and has organized presentations of work by Ellsworth Kelly, Tschabalala Self, and Emmi Whitehorse, among others.
Angel Jiang is Curator of Prints and Drawings at the University of New Mexico Art Museum in Albuquerque. She was previously a Jane and Morgan Whitney Fellow in the Department of Drawings and Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and earned her PhD from Columbia University. A specialist in European and American graphic art, she publishes, teaches, and organizes exhibitions in these areas.
