About this event
Youth Escuela Bolera introduces students to one of Spain's classical dance traditions and an essential component of comprehensive Spanish dance training. Originating in Spain during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Escuela Bolera is a highly refined dance form that combines the elegance of classical ballet with Spanish dance technique, expressive artistry, and castanet playing. Today, it continues to be taught in professional conservatories throughout Spain and remains an important part of the country's rich cultural heritage. Designed for students ages 8–12, this class develops strength, coordination, balance, posture, precision, and musicality while introducing students to the technical and artistic principles of Escuela Bolera. As a companion study to flamenco, students strengthen the skills needed for flamenco while broadening their understanding of Spanish dance as a whole.
