ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Consumer Reports offers tips to help Albuquerque residents lower their streaming, phone and cable bills. Residents are advised to call for a 10% discount, set up autopay to save $10 a month and explore bundle deals (as recommended by Diane Umansky). KOAT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ PNM and the Department of Transportation urge residents to prepare for possible power outages and hazardous travel as a winter storm approaches, advising folks to assemble an outage kit (nonperishable food, flashlights, and medications) and a travel kit with blankets and coats while crews clear roads. - ➤ Winter storm watches have been issued as a storm is predicted to hit New Mexico Friday afternoon (impacting Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Carlsbad) and intensify Saturday evening. Rain, snow, and cold temperatures may cause heavy travel impacts. KOAT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials from the Environmental Health Department cited several downtown food trucks for noise, parking and permit violations after receiving multiple complaints; the checks occurred over the weekend along streets from Second to Eighth (covering the area between Gold and Copper). - ➤ Today at the start of the legislative session, a revised version of the Clear Horizons Act is set to codify Gov. Lujan Grisham’s climate goals by allowing local carbon offsets to count toward emissions reductions (aimed at garnering support from both lawmakers and industry). The bill exempts small emitters. - ➤ A physician licensing compact bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and now heads to a full Senate vote, while nine related bills advanced in House panels. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham supports the move as a tool to ease provider shortages statewide. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ Drivers at the Rio Bravo and Second Street intersection in southwest Albuquerque experienced delays as westbound lanes were reduced to one — crews replaced deteriorated concrete.
