EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UNM Anderson School of Management launches a five-year experiential learning plan today to boost accounting enrollment and tackle New Mexico’s shortage of accounting professionals. The initiative will fund networking events and case competitions — connecting students with industry exposure to build on a 7.3% rise in enrollment. University of New Mexico
- ➤ Three UNM online programs ranked in the top 100 in U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs. The Bachelor’s in Business placed at No. 47 and the Bachelor’s for Veterans at No. 72, with a total of eight programs earning high marks for online education. University of New Mexico
- ➤ New Mexico’s free state-administered Summer Reading Program will use the African American Performing Arts Center on the State Fairgrounds for a four-week session this summer. The program will teach 40 students from incoming kindergarten to eighth grade and is hiring instructors for trainings in late March. KUNM

- ➤ The New Mexico House unanimously approved Senate Bill 1 that eases licensing for out-of-state health care professionals and sent it to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham for signature; lawmakers note the bill alone will not solve the local workforce shortage. Source NM
- ➤ After new federal SNAP rules took effect on Feb. 1, Roadrunner Food Bank said local food banks expect higher demand because 55,750 New Mexicans must work, volunteer or attend training to keep benefits. Recipients can get help checking rules by calling 1-800-283-4465. KUNM
