- ➤ The Senate Education committee advanced a bill on Monday that would require all districts and charter schools to ban cell phone use in class; middle schools would adopt the rule next school year, with high schools and elementary schools later. - ➤ Former Meta safety engineer Arturo Béjar testified Tuesday in Santa Fe that the company shifted from safety to growth after 2019. He said pressure to compete with TikTok contributed to less secure practices and he is set to continue testifying today. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ A $2 million state grant will be equally shared by Bernalillo County and Albuquerque to boost behavioral health support. Bernalillo County will expand residential treatment and aftercare programs at the CARE Campus at 5901 Zuni Road SE + Albuquerque will fund its school-based violence prevention program for at-risk youth. - ➤ Senate Bill 58 would extend tax breaks in Albuquerque's Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas to 14 years; it passed the Senate last week and advanced in the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee, and city leaders (including affordable housing advocates) say the change will spur investment in blighted zones.
