- ➤ Lobo researchers at UNM are accepting nominations for the Globally-Engaged Research Awards, which honor international work and Deborah Rifenbary’s legacy, with cash prizes of $1,500 for graduate students and $1,000 for undergraduates + nominations are due by Friday, March 6. - ➤ UNM Health Sciences Center is boosting campus safety on North Campus with new fencing, cameras & blue light phones. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, New Mexico Environment Department data showed that 15 water systems, including the Albuquerque Veterans Hospital and a Placitas elementary school, exceeded federal PFAS limits and may affect about 4,200 residents while officials plan to help systems treat high levels in coming months. - ➤ NOAA scientists reported that despite recent storms, the Rio Grande Basin’s snow pack remains at around 6% of normal as record warm winter temperatures persist in the area. This low snow cover may increase wildfire risk in Eastern New Mexico later this winter. Source NM

- ➤ U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union celebrates 90 years by launching its 90 Days of Giving initiative that distributed nearly $4,000.
