- ➤ Data from MIT's Living Wage Calculator shows that a single adult in Albuquerque now must earn $21.87 per hour to cover basic needs + experts say families require wages over $100K while many workers still fall short as pay inches up across Bernalillo County. The Paper.

- ➤ UNM School of Law hosts the U.S. Senator Dennis Chavez Lectureship on Law and Civil Rights on Wednesday, March 4, with refreshments at 5 p.m. and the lecture by Stephen I. Vladeck at 5:30 p.m. in the Law Forum — the public session offers 1.5 legal education credits. University of New Mexico
- ➤ The University of New Mexico will celebrate its 137th birthday during Lobo Day 2026 on Friday, Feb. 27, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the SUB Atrium, featuring a Route 66 centennial theme with free T-shirts for the first 137 students with a Lobo ID. University of New Mexico
- ➤ UNM launched BELONG, a task force to grow health professions programs and boost student support. The team, led by Pamela Cheek & Jennifer Love and working with the Albuquerque campus and regional sites, will share its report by Oct. 31. University of New Mexico
- ➤ Interim Provost Barbara Rodríguez has formed a steering committee at UNM to guide ethical AI use across academic and administrative units. The group, led by dean Mark Emmons (chair), will develop a multi-year framework and ethical guidelines to support teaching, research, and operations aligned with UNM’s 2040 goals. - ➤ The New Mexico Department of Transportation said it will move ahead with its $8 million plan to install higher railings at the 60-year-old Rio Grande Gorge Bridge despite Cabinet Secretary Ricky Serna’s resignation. The design is set to be completed by July 2026 before a contractor is selected to start construction. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ A water main break closed northbound lanes of Coors Bypass between Coors Boulevard and Seven Bar Loop near Cottonwood Mall Tuesday morning — crews from Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority are fixing a broken 20-inch PVC pipe and water service may be interrupted for several days. - ➤ At the USATF Masters Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center, veteran athletes competed in track and field events on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22, with performers ranging from nonagenarians to those in their 60s + the competition featured sprint relays, high jumps and long jumps.
