EDUCATION NEWS

  • New Mexico’s high school graduation rate rose to 80.6% in 2025 (the highest in over a decade), though some groups still lag behind. Albuquerque Public Schools improved to 76.8%, and community leaders are partnering to make school more engaging for students.  Albuquerque Journal

  • Albuquerque residents experienced an unusually warm, 70-degree winter as UNM professor Joe Galewsky explained that a persistent La Niña pattern (responsible for dry weather) and long-term warming trends are straining water supplies and raising wildfire risks; water managers will monitor conditions as spring approaches.  University of New Mexico
