  • Scientists and health professionals will hold the Stand Up for Science rally on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Civic Plaza downtown to address concerns over political interference in publicly funded research.  KUNM

  • Lance Jackson revealed how his childhood music lessons with his former teacher sparked his passion for the organ. The StoryCorps interview aired today and shows his journey from student to professional musician + celebrates his deep ties to the local arts scene.  KUNM
  • This weekend, Heart headlines at Rio Rancho Events Center on Saturday with doors at 6:30 p.m. and Ann and Nancy Wilson joining at 7:30 p.m., while the Loma Colorado Main Library hosts Garden Expo at 10 a.m. and comedian Kasey Nicholson performs at Quezada’s Comedy Club on Friday and Saturday.  Sandoval Signpost
  • UNM alumna Molly Beer has published Angelica, a debut biography that reexamines the role of Angelica Schuyler Church in the American Revolution (using extensive archival research).   • A new APS survey finds many staff report burnout and unmanageable workloads, with special education teachers (some working up to 30 extra hours weekly) experiencing the highest stress. The district supports a study on teacher workloads to create solutions and improve work-life balance.  Albuquerque Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Food and Water Watch report warns that the national drive to build AI data centers may strain local clean energy and water supplies, citing Project Jupiter as an example. A Texas firm will build a $60 million gas pipeline on April 15 to power the campus.  Source NM

  • Ryan Berryman, a UNM alum (former student manager), is named as the new Vice President and Director of Athletics at UNM.
