CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ High school students from across New Mexico will compete at the Poetry Out Loud finals on Sunday, Mar. 8 at 1 p.m. at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, marking the event's first time in Albuquerque. Eleven finalists will recite memorized poems aiming to reach the national finals in Washington, D.C. The Paper.
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A union survey of 2,000 APS staff revealed that 25% feel overworked and stressed due to extra administrative tasks plus a challenging work-life balance, especially among special ed and elementary teachers. APS leaders met Wednesday and are working on ways to reduce workloads and boost support. KUNM
- ➤ APS reports gains in reading scores with third-grade proficiency rising to nearly 40%—up from 32% last year—but Yazzie-Martinez and Black students still score lower. - ➤ The University of New Mexico is building a new Humanities & Social Sciences Complex designed with Pueblo Revival influences from field trips to Bandelier and Acoma.
