- ➤ UNM art professor Jessamyn Lovell has been selected for a summer residency at the MacDowell in Peterborough, N.H. from June 7 to July 9. The competitive program will give her time to work on her project How to Become Invisible as she prepares for upcoming exhibitions. University of New Mexico

- ➤ UNM president Garnett Stokes delivered her final state-of-the-university address at Keller Hall Monday and outlined plans to expand healthcare, technology, athletics & campus safety as part of the UNM 2040 plan ahead of her retirement at the end of the school year. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ UNM Anderson Distinguished Professor Xin (Robert) Luo, Ph.D., was ranked no. 1 globally for his publications in the 11 AIS journals for 2023-2025, while UNM placed no. 6; this marks his second top ranking and underlines the innovative research in the digital economy at the MIDS department. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The USGS reported that a magnitude 3.7 earthquake shook parts of New Mexico yesterday morning when it hit 13 miles southwest of Carlsbad at 7:25 a.m. at a depth of 4.7 miles — there have been no reports of damage. KOAT
- ➤ Starting April 1, popular trails on Sandia Crest will close for nearly two years for wildfire risk mitigation and construction work; hikers must reroute to alternate paths near the 10K Trailhead parking lot as crews thin vegetation and remove dead trees — work is expected to finish by winter. - ➤ U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union will host a free ‘Credit 101’ workshop on March 31 at 6 p.m. at its Santa Ana Branch — the session will teach locals how to check credit reports, understand scores and safeguard their data. Sandoval Signpost
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Lujan Grisham and local leaders voted Monday to build a sports stadium and mixed-income housing on the southwest corner of the State Fairgrounds (the annual fair will continue to operate during demolition and construction) with hints that United soccer may be interested. - ➤ Albuquerque started a $62 million road construction project on March 17 to widen Unser Blvd and Paseo del Norte for about 30,000 Rio Rancho commuters & improve travel safety. The project, which adds multi-use trails and upgraded lighting, is set to finish mid-to-late 2028. The Paper.
- ➤ Rio Rancho drivers face delays as the $8.4 million Broadmoor reconstruction project continues its road closures from Southbound Country Club Drive between St. Andrews Drive and Oakmount Drive and along Broadmoor Boulevard until March 26. Alternate routes such as Unser Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard will help ease travel disruptions. Sandoval Signpost
- ➤ Construction on I-25 will reduce lanes daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Tuesday, March 31 between the San Felipe overpass (mile marker 250) and State Road 16 near Santa Fe; drivers should expect delays and slow down. KOAT
