CULTURE NEWS

  • A restaurant in the Village of Los Ranchos is the only New Mexico establishment advancing to the final round of the James Beard Awards this year — a milestone that highlights its garden to glass approach.  Albuquerque Journal
  • UNM’s Popejoy Hall hosted August Wilson’s Two Trains Running on April 5th at 7:30 p.m. and will present Christina Anderson’s modern adaptation of The Comedy of Errors today at 3 p.m. The Acting Company—founded 50 years ago—is touring 23 cities with these shows.  The Paper.
  • New Mexican author Margaret Randall will lead free discussions on creative resistance at Bookworks on April 9 and at Collected Works in Santa Fe on April 27. She will share insights from her new book Letters from the Edge: Outrider Conversations and her poetry collection Wild Card while engaging in a public conversation with poet Victor Rodríguez Nuñez.  The Paper.

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • UNM Utility Services and UNM Hospital received the Impact on Water, Efficiency and the Environment Award from Industrial Water Engineering — the partners merged two water treatment systems to return condensate to the Ford Utilities Center and save 2.85 million gallons of water each year while cutting $5,000 in chemical costs annually.  University of New Mexico

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FBI will send extra personnel to field offices across New Mexico to investigate violent crimes involving tribal nations, including cases with missing persons — the move is part of a wider effort to address MMIP concerns.  Albuquerque Journal

  • Chase Silseth, a New Mexico native and 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year, says his return to the Big Leagues is on track — his body and mind are getting ready.
