- ➤ Albuquerque resident Rick Gutierrez drove his 1958 Chevrolet Apache and 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS to the U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union parking lot off Coors on Sunday to donate over 300 pounds of food for a local food pantry fundraiser. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ On Saturday, April 12, Casa San Ysidro hosted a talk on the 'Bad Girls of New Mexico' with historian Robert Tórrez. The free event at the historic building in Corrales—owned by the Albuquerque Museum—explored infamous figures and notable executions from New Mexico history. New Mexico Daily Lobo

- ➤ Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a bill on April 8 that now pays all of graduate students' tuition and fees. The law makes it easier to get a scholarship by ending the citizenship rule and offering support for eight semesters to New Mexico students. New Mexico Daily Lobo
- ➤ After receiving hundreds of public comments criticizing its proposed changes, the University of New Mexico released two new draft affirmative action policies on April 10 that maintained some affirmative action language but removed the requirements for a written plan and data reporting — the policies remain open for comment until April 20 and will be reviewed before final approval. - ➤ Federal immigration officials terminated the SEVIS records of several UNM international students and UNM explained that a record termination does not always mean a visa was revoked. - ➤ Former state House majority leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton filed a lawsuit alleging that Albuquerque police used unwarranted and excessive force that damaged her home when they served her in 2022.
