ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Data from a new study shows New Mexico has the third-highest rate for dangerous driving with about 6.75 speeding crashes and 6.27 drunk driving crashes per 100,000 people. Santa Fe police said extra officers are being sent to school zones and heavy traffic areas in Albuquerque and Santa Fe — urging drivers to slow down and pay full attention. KOAT

- ➤ Albuquerque Police Department reported a man was found dead in Southeast Albuquerque Monday morning and that a person is in custody as they investigate the case. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ An Albuquerque man named Jamison Wagner was federally charged with arson after fires damaged a Tesla showroom in early February and the GOP headquarters in late March+ investigators searched his home on April 12 and found materials linked to both offenses+ evidence such as incendiary devices and matching graffiti confirmed the acts. - ➤ Alex Camacho leads Albuquerque’s cover band 505 GOATS, which has featured over 70 musicians and welcomes anyone to join live jam sessions featuring metal, rap and country covers. The band rehearses at Camacho’s house and recruits local talent from Facebook—efforts that continue to grow community music events. The Paper.
- ➤ The Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho will perform 'A Beautiful Noise,' a spring concert celebrating nature, community and young voices at St. Francis Episcopal Church on May 3 and 4 at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. The concert will collect toiletries for CASA Partners 4NMKids + proceeds will benefit Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads art programs + conductors Michelle Zetterholm and Clarissa Clark lead the performances. - ➤ On Monday, a highway closure delayed a visit by federal delegates, state and tribal officials who met at Harry’s Roadhouse to talk about protecting the Upper Pecos watershed from new mining and logging. Officials reintroduced a bill to ban new mining and asked for stronger water quality safeguards—actions that come as community groups plan ongoing river cleanups—while they get ready to lobby for more federal protection.
