ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A sewer line collapse near Barelas Railroad Park on Second SW closed the road from Southern Avenue to Woodward Road around noon Tuesday; local water officials say repairs may take several weeks, so drivers should use Broadway as a detour + expect limited business access. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ UNM Maxwell Museum will host a lecture and cheese tasting on Saturday, Apr. 18 at the Hibben Center, where Professor Emeritus Paul Kindstedt will explain ancient cheese fermentation. - ➤ The University of New Mexico College of Education and Human Sciences will host its first State of the College address on Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m. at the UNM Continuing Education Conference Center Auditorium (with Zoom access available) to review recent achievements and outline future plans for serving New Mexico. - ➤ UNM educators were honored on April 8 at the annual Teaching Excellence Awards — held during the Spring Teaching Conference by the Center for Teaching and Learning — as the event recognized faculty, lecturers, and graduate students for their commitment to teaching. University of New Mexico
- ➤ Students from UNM classes show off their nature journaling at an exhibit that opened on April 10 at the UNM Fine Arts and Design Library—displaying creative pages made with colored pencils and sketchbooks. - ➤ UNM junior Randee Brandt, an East Asian Studies major, will study Mandarin for two months in New Taipei City, Taiwan this summer at Tamkang University after receiving a Critical Language Scholarship from the U.S. State Department. - ➤ UNM researchers received nearly $1.6 million from Allen Family Philanthropies & NSF to refine a flows model that will help guide water management for the Rio Grande. The project will test multiple water delivery scenarios to balance ecosystem benefits with agriculture, urban supply, and tribal needs. University of New Mexico
