- ➤ Indigenous families with missing or murdered loved ones will gather in Albuquerque and Farmington from May 5 to 9 for a national week of action that highlights the crisis and supports healing. In Albuquerque, state and tribal leaders will speak and attendees will join remembrance ceremonies and an art project at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the University of New Mexico's Maxwell Museum courtyard—while Farmington will host a rally at Berg Park from 2 to 6 p.m. with food provided and photo tributes on display. - ➤ New Mexico officials said Head Start programs remain stable today even as a lawsuit was filed against federal officials for proposed funding cuts—state agencies report that local services face no disruption. - ➤ Albuquerque officials shut down the Court John Motel on May 1 after inspectors found serious plumbing, wiring, and fire hazards—problems that had led to nearly 1,000 police calls and prompted Community Safety to help 14 of the 15 residents, including a 97-year-old veteran. KOAT
