  • Runners and walkers gathered yesterday at ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden for the annual Run For the Zoo in warm, sunny weather. Participants pushed through the challenge—supported by Waterstone Mortgage and the New Mexico BioPark Society—to enjoy a community event that brought them together.  KOAT
  • Yesterday, hundreds gathered at Veterans Park for the 10th annual vintage car show that raised funds for Honor Flight, which sends veterans to Washington, D.C. for sightseeing. Jennifer Solis, with her fiancee Lorena Betancur & Lorena's father, Manuel, drove a 1969 Ford Mustang and shared cherished family memories.  KOAT
  • Yesterday the 5th annual Denim and Diamonds Gala at Sandia Resort and Casino raised funds for the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network to support vital programs, scholarships and community resources. KOAT anchor Sasha Lenninger emceed the event featuring a 321 dance crew and individuals who sang the National Anthem.  KOAT
  • Rail Yards Market has re-opened for the 2026 season in Albuquerque—offering food trucks, local vendors, and arts and crafts every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until October.  KOAT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday at about 7:27 p.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a fire at La Vida Nueva Apartments on Dickerson Drive near Santa Clara & Yale, rescuing two residents and rendering 16 units uninhabitable while displacing at least 13 people as the cause remains undetermined.  Albuquerque Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, May 2, families and car enthusiasts gathered at Albuquerque Rail Yards for the Cinco De Mayo Lowrider Fiesta. Over 150 lowriders, motorcycles and food vendors featured live music in a festive local celebration.  New Mexico Daily Lobo
  • Cinco de Mayo, which marks Mexico’s 1862 victory over French forces, is spurring local families to plan outdoor gatherings and festive drinks today. Alan Richard from Total Wine and More recommends easy margarita tips (add garnishes like dehydrated limes and a splash of agave nectar) for a celebratory touch.  KOAT
