CRIME NEWS

  • Albuquerque police said crime is down in the first three months of this year with homicides dropping from 21 to 11, shootings with injuries falling 50% to 33, and auto thefts decreasing by 47% to 922—though officials warn that long-term crime rates remain a challenge.  Sandoval Signpost

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today at 3 p.m., the Doo Wop Project returns to Albuquerque at Popejoy Hall for its third performance, blending vintage doo-wop sounds with modern songs such as 'December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)', 'The Way You Make Me Feel', and 'I'm Yours'.   • Albuquerque’s mayor and police chief said they are near the finish line in their reform effort after the US Department of Justice announced the police needed to change its use-of-force policies—policies that had led to deadly incidents and were ruled unconstitutional.
