COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, postal workers in Albuquerque collected food donations in blue bags for the Stamp Out Hunger drive and delivered 137,556 lbs to Roadrunner Food Bank. Community volunteers sorted the items—donations are still accepted during business hours at post offices and the food bank.  KOAT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, two pedestrians were hit by a truck at Chelwood Park Boulevard NE and Menaul Boulevard—one is in critical condition and the other is stable—and Albuquerque police are investigating the crash.  KOAT

  • On March 6th, Guild Cinema hosted two screenings of Kyle Henry's documentary 'Time Passages' with a Q&A session after each showing. The film uses family archives, home movies, and symbolic imagery — including dolls—to explore his journey with his mother's dementia and the memories of his childhood.  New Mexico Daily Lobo

  • State officials spotlight New Mexico’s progress today as Economic Development Week begins and will run through May 16. The annual event, started in 2016, focuses on boosting local business growth—highlighting new opportunities for investment and innovation.  Albuquerque Journal

  • Managing Editor Lauren Lifke graduated today with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication after three years at Daily Lobo—she built a legacy in crime reporting and student mentorship and will now intern at Maryland Matters this summer to advance her data journalism skills.  New Mexico Daily Lobo
  • On the last day of spring classes, UNM postdocs and student organizers gathered at a Stand Up for Science table to protest the White House plan to cut federal science funding.   • Dr. Randolph Baca from Loveless Medical Center warned during Mental Health Awareness Month that changes in sleep, appetite, and concentration and a drop in energy may signal depression or anxiety—potentially escalating to self-harm.
