- ➤ Albuquerque Gold Star Mother Joyce Paulsen visited a WWI grave in France on May 17 (honoring fallen soldier Tomas Herrera and her son) and collected dirt for a new Sacred Soil Marker bound for Arlington National Cemetery. She plans to continue her veteran support work. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ Dozens of volunteers placed U.S. flags on nearly 55,000 graves at Santa Fe National Cemetery Saturday in preparation for Monday's Memorial Day celebrations featuring Santa Fe Mayor Michael Garcia as keynote; additional ceremonies will be held in Albuquerque (10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Rio Rancho (10 a.m.).
