CRIME NEWS

  • A man was fatally struck by an SUV — a hit-and-run incident — on Saturday night in Northwest Albuquerque.  Albuquerque Journal
  • Neighbors in West Bluff Park reported rising crime with a dog stabbed, a hose and bike stolen, and parties leaving trash while police said their patrol team is checking the park five days a week — residents worry crime has shifted from closed hotels to their neighborhood.  KOAT
  • Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Northeast Albuquerque, with reports indicating he was shot Sunday morning.  Albuquerque Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Beaver advocates in Chimayó are working to restore beaver populations to their historical homelands in New Mexico — the animals had disappeared as abruptly as they arrived.  Albuquerque Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Albuquerque announced it will begin its largest road project near year's end, investing $62 million to expand parts of Paseo del Norte and Unser NW. The improvements are expected to upgrade major routes and ease local traffic.  Albuquerque Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • At least 1,277 measles cases have been reported in the U.S. in 2025 with three deaths, including one adult in New Mexico—this is the highest count since the disease was declared eliminated in 2000. Health officials say most cases are in unvaccinated people and that special clinics are giving more MMR shots to help protect children.  KOAT
