- ➤ Albuquerque police arrested Erick Pacheco, 54, on first-degree murder charges after surveillance video showed him and his red Dodge Charger arriving at an apartment complex on Zuni Road and Espanola Street SE just before midnight on June 25—he allegedly fired a shotgun twice and fatally wounded Denise Duran. - ➤ Albuquerque police are investigating a shooting in northeast Albuquerque near Wyoming Boulevard NE and Chico Road NE—two people were injured and taken to a local hospital—with no update on their condition. KOAT

- ➤ On July 11, the Albuquerque BioPark Aquarium hosted its annual Shark and Ray Awareness Day where visitors met several shark species and learned about their unique features, including how a high oil content in a shark’s liver aids buoyancy.
