- ➤ On Sunday, about 100 protesters gathered outside Albuquerque Walmart on Coors Boulevard near Interstate 40 — they chanted 'Burque over Billionaires' to express their concerns. The demonstration highlighted local frustrations over economic issues. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ On July 7th, protesters gathered around 10 a.m. outside a Walmart near Coors Boulevard NW to protest ICE’s detention of a Venezuelan citizen who fled Homeland Security agents—ICE said the taser was used to mitigate a threat while demonstrators decried the incident as harmful to the community. - ➤ The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Mexico announced last week that nearly $5 million has been recovered—money set to help compensate hundreds of victims of a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ UNM has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions since 2006 but still has not met its goal of an 80% reduction by 2030. - ➤ On June 30th, the University of New Mexico Board of Regents approved a 38 acre land transfer for the Lobo Retail Crossing Center on south campus to give Lobo Village students and sports arena patrons easy access to grocery stores, restaurants and shops; the property purchased by SimonCRE is scheduled for completion in early Fall 2026.
