- ➤ Solomon Pena was sentenced to 80 years in prison with 3 years of supervised release in federal court after being convicted for plotting four shootings at the homes of elected officials between Dec. 4th and Jan. 3rd, with no one injured—two co-conspirators had already received lesser sentences. - ➤ APD homicide detectives charged six teens in connection with the fatal shooting of homeless man Frank Howard on July 2 at a bus stop on Menaul Boulevard and Eubank Boulevard—detectives linked the same handgun to an earlier attack at Burger King on the same day involving a pregnant woman. KOAT
- ➤ Albuquerque police are investigating a deadly shooting in northeast Albuquerque when officers found a male with gunshot injuries in a vehicle on the 6000 block of Barnhart Drive NE—residents tried emergency measures but rescue personnel later pronounced him dead. KOAT

- ➤ UNM Children's Campus received $10K from the Bank of Albuquerque Giving Program after a bank employee nominated it based on a parent's praise for its care of a child with autism. The donation + will support the campus's early learning programs and services for local families. University of New Mexico
- ➤ Andrew Norton, the new ASUNM president, is meeting with student groups and city officials to improve campus life — while Vice President Hope Montoya plans to bring state ideas to help all UNM students.
