- ➤ The Bernalillo Farmers Market will take place this Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rotary Park on 370 Rotary Park Road where local vendors will offer fresh eggs, honey, tomatoes, zucchini, bread and other items—organizers said the free event accepts SNAP, WIC and Double Up Food Bucks. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Four University of New Mexico undergraduates have been awarded the fall Undergraduate Research Scholarship to support research projects with UNM faculty and a $500 departmental award—Sarah Lee, Lucien Gil Rey, Paniz Aghapour Maleki, and Ava Clayton. They will work on topics such as climate change, substance use, medicinal plants, and tick-borne diseases. University of New Mexico

- ➤ Local leaders announced that over $80 million in state funds will expand affordable housing and shelter projects to house 1,000 people by June 30, 2026—efforts include expanding shelter networks and subsidizing private developments in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. - ➤ Mayor Tim Keller gave his state of the city address Saturday night at the BioPark, saying major crime has fallen, fees on family programs will be frozen, and public services expanded — his mayoral opponents questioned the figures and warned that rising murder counts and ongoing homelessness show major issues remain. His criticisms focused on the gap between the claimed progress and the real challenges the city still faces. KOAT
- ➤ Last week, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller replied to a letter from U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi asking if the city would comply with federal law and explain how it limits immigration enforcement—he said none of the city’s laws or practices impede enforcement because officials do not ask for residents’ documentation. - ➤ At 6 p.m. today, Sandoval County Commissioners will consider up to $125 million in bonds to bring a hypersonic rocket manufacturing and testing plant to Rio Rancho—Castelion Corporation's plan is expected to create hundreds of jobs and eventually support 1,000 workers by 2035.
