- ➤ On Thursday morning, over 100 Albuquerque first responders fitted in full firefighting gear & carrying a 75-pound pack gathered outside the Washington Federal Building & Downtown Albuquerque to honor fallen 9/11 heroes during a memorial stair climb. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ In downtown Albuquerque, firefighters held a memorial climb of 110 flights to honor 343 fallen firefighters, a tradition that began in 2003 and has grown every year. The event recalled the heroism of local and FDNY members – one participant remembered her father as one of the first responders on Sept. 11. KOAT

- ➤ NMSU officials reported that the School of Nursing is training students now to help fill New Mexico's severe health care shortage by focusing on mental health and rural areas. At a recent Legislative Health and Human Services Committee meeting in Las Cruces, school leaders Alexa Doig and Rick Marlatt detailed hands-on programs that include dual certification in integrated care—improving job prospects for graduates. - ➤ UNM is co-hosting the UR Inspiration International Undergraduate Research Conference online on Oct. 23 and offers free participation for students who submit abstracts by Sept. 19. - ➤ New Mexico in Focus interviewed Albuquerque mayor Tim Keller and challenger Alexander Uballez about their visions for the city, as Keller sought a third term and Uballez relied on his law enforcement experience to address housing and crime concerns. The program also featured Santa Fe mayoral candidates Letitia Montoya, Jeanne O'Dean, and Oscar Rodriguez discussing affordability challenges—while County Clerk Katharine Clark explained ranked-choice voting. - ➤ Sandoval County Manager Wayne Johnson said the county’s top project—a Westside bypass that will widen and extend Paseo del Volcan—will move forward despite Bernalillo councilors opposing it over concerns about increased truck traffic and harm to local businesses.
