- ➤ Albuquerque Public Schools settled a claim with a Volcano Vista High School student injured in a sword-fighting incident in 2022 — agreeing to pay over $3 million — to resolve the case. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ Indigenous education experts and advocates criticized the state’s draft education plan for lacking clear steps to support Native language instruction and cultural education at a gathering north of Albuquerque Tuesday. - ➤ A University of New Mexico team received a $2.7 million NSF grant on Oct. 1 to study ways to lower STEM course barriers and improve early access for students. - ➤ Researchers led by Colorado State University and UNM found that four years of extreme drought nearly doubled plant productivity loss in grasslands compared to moderate drought—raising concerns for lasting ecosystem damage. Silverstone Equity Partners will lead the redevelopment backed by a $2 million investment and a nearly $750,000 tax abatement, with construction set to begin later this year and completion expected in fall.
