- ➤ On October 18, thousands marched downtown in Albuquerque for the No Kings protest to oppose policies they said hurt free speech and higher education. University students, officials like Mayor Tim Keller and Rep Melanie Stansbury, and local activists in inflatable animal costumes made their voices heard during the march—showing their strong stand against control measures. - ➤ The UNM IT Department will reopen the Engineering and Science Computer Pod on Oct. 27 and hold an open house for the renovated Lobo Lab on Nov. 4 from 2 to 2:50 p.m. at the Student Union Building — President Stokes and the UNM Esports team will offer tours while light refreshments are served. - ➤ UNM President Garnett Stokes hosted a s'mores roast in the Student Union Building on Oct. 13 to kick off Homecoming Week after moving the event indoors because of muddy conditions — students and faculty gathered to enjoy roasted marshmallows and warm beverages. - ➤ The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education ended its search for a contractor to provide coaching and professional services so new board members may restart the selection process as election day nears. Officials said the decision will let the board guide its future working relationship—ensuring that fresh leadership has input in choosing service providers. Albuquerque Journal
- ➤ UNM opened a new video production studio in Room 138 at Woodward Hall on Main Campus on Aug. 18, offering high-definition cameras + green screen equipment for staff and student projects after a mandatory training. - ➤ UNM Honors College is hosting Honors Week from Oct. 27–31 so students can join almost 50 events that replace regular classes. Lobo IDs are needed for check‐in—students can attend hands‐on science sessions, Narcan training, medieval plays and a Pickleball Party. University of New Mexico
