- ➤ Albuquerque residents will get a chance to embrace local legend at the first Bigfoot Bash — a fundraiser benefiting YMCA programs — at Rio Grande Social on Nov. 10. The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and include raffles, trivia, storytelling and a Bigfoot calling contest with tickets at $10 for adults and free for kids. The Paper.

- ➤ A pilot from Albuquerque died when a UPS plane burst into flames after takeoff from a Louisville airport Tuesday — the crash killed at least 13 people. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ Albuquerque will host the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, known as Silver Belle, at Balloon Fiesta Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 8—sourced from Nevada’s Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest for the first time since 1964, it will be accompanied by live music, local vendors and arts and crafts for children. - ➤ Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, returns to Albuquerque with his new project Pluribus+ He begins the project after nearly two decades of filming in New Mexico with shows like Better Call Saul and El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. Albuquerque Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ New Mexico’s education department released a 190-page plan on Monday to improve public schools after a 2018 ruling — critics say it lacks sufficient community oversight and culturally responsive teaching. - ➤ Bernalillo officials say the preventative maintenance project on Camino Don Tomas will be finished by the end of November after contractor issues delayed work. The project covers the roadway from Lucas Lane to Calle Don Francisco and includes seal coating, updating the walking path, replacing bollards + hiring a new striping subcontractor to meet town standards.
