EDUCATION NEWS

  • David F. Menicucci will speak on how to research, write, publish + market a book at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Public Library Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Main Library Genealogy Center, 501 Copper Ave NW.  Albuquerque Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday, the No. 2-seeded Eagles—who enjoyed a dominant season—won the Class 5A girls state soccer championship by beating No. 4 Rio Rancho 2-0.  Albuquerque Journal
  • UNM defeated UT-Arlington 74-56 at the Pit in an early-season game, led by Deyton Albury with 15 points and three steals and Tomislav Buljan with 17 points—strong defense sealed the blowout victory.  Albuquerque Journal
  • Highland running backs William Anchondo and Jose Tapia gained over 350 total yards in their win over Mayfield. Anchondo led key plays while Tapia provided solid support—helping secure the victory.  Albuquerque Journal
  • St. Pius won the 4A boys championship game by defeating Academy — the win recalled a matchup from last year when 13 players took the field showing strong effort.  Albuquerque Journal
  • The UNM Lobo women are chasing consistency in game three when North Carolina A&T visits the Pit today — one of four Sunday afternoon games before Mountain West play begins in mid-December.  Albuquerque Journal
  • Freshman Jake Hall and freshman Uriah Tenette join the Lobos with strong high school careers—Jake scored 3,106 points in California and Uriah earned 2,752 points in Arizona.  Albuquerque Journal
  • Volcano Vista survived a scare from Cibola Friday night in a Class 6A prep football game as the Cougars failed to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. The close contest kept the field intense and fans on edge throughout the game.  Albuquerque Journal
  • La Cueva beat Rio Rancho in the 5A boys championship to end a long title drought—they led every play from start to finish.  Albuquerque Journal
