- ➤ The 36th annual KOATs for Kids donation drive is now collecting new coats for school-aged children and will run until November 23rd—on November 21, a live drive will be held at three Walmart locations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to pick up the coats for delivery to school districts. - ➤ During World War II, Navajo code talkers used their unique language to send secret messages that saved lives in the Pacific by replacing intercepted English communications—29 Native Americans created code words such as 'zinc' for the letter Z. Peter MacDonald Sr., 97, joined the Marines at 15 and, along with fellow veteran Thomas H. Begay, now works to preserve this vital legacy. KOAT
