- ➤ On Wednesday night, Albuquerque Public Schools’ Board of Education approved over $4 million in funds to add weapons detection systems to school campuses—raising security measures for students and staff. - ➤ University of New Mexico held community listening sessions on Nov. 18 and 19 at the Student Union Building and Domenici Education Center on the Health and Sciences campus to gather input on the qualities needed in the next president. The search started after President Garnett Stokes announced her retirement at the end of the 2025-26 school year, and finalists will be chosen in April or May with the new president taking over in the summer. - ➤ On Friday, Nov. 21, state and tribal leaders met at the Indian Pueblo Culture Center and urged the federal government to keep Public Land Order 7923, which protects a 10-mile buffer around Chaco Canyon from oil & gas development.
