EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UNM professor Erin Wilkinson, one of few deaf linguistics researchers, is advancing signed language research — she facilitated an international workshop in Paris and mentors students to enhance signed language grammar. University of New Mexico
- ➤ The RRPS board unanimously named Robert (Robby) Dodd as superintendent on Wednesday evening. Dodd replaces Dr. Sue Cleveland after 31 years and vows to work with educators (and community members) to guide the district's future. Albuquerque Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Mexico Environment Department and State Engineer's Office awarded nearly $26 million in grants on Wednesday to support brackish water projects in communities such as Cuba and Alamo Navajo that aim to improve water sustainability. More contracts worth $13 million will be announced in coming months. Albuquerque Journal

- ➤ The state approved more than $90M to redevelop the fairgrounds into parks, a hotel, mixed-income housing + retail space, while the future of the state fair is still undetermined. A final decision on the fair’s location is expected early next year. Albuquerque Journal
