  • Takato Kashiwagi, a cyclist from Japan touring the US, had his bike stolen at a Walgreens on Central Ave last night but received help from local residents (via Facebook) to retrieve it, so he can continue his journey toward Los Angeles before his tourist visa expires Jan. 7.  KOAT

CULTURE NEWS

  • New Mexico Department of Health released its annual baby name data showing that Olivia tops girls and Noah leads boys, with Emma falling off the top 10 for the first time in over a decade. The stats come from the Bureau of Vital Records and highlight steady biblical name trends.  Albuquerque Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UNM’s Department of Art announced that undergraduate Chelsea Snow is the 2025 Reggie Behl Award winner (with a $1,000 cash prize) and her work will be shown in the John Sommers Gallery lobby during Spring 2026. The honor recognizes her exceptional drawing portfolio.  University of New Mexico
